IFMA SF Explores the Depths of Operations at the California Academy of Sciences

Thursday, November 30th, IFMA San Francisco went on a behind-the-scenes tour at the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park. Not only is it a popular museum, but it is also a cutting-edge research facility housing an impressive 46 million scientific specimens from across the globe!

Our host took us deep into the heart of the 100-year-old Steinhart Aquarium, showing the back-of-house life support infrastructure that keeps the aquatic ecosystem thriving. Then we saw the central plant for the building and were given info on equipment expansion plans and the unique challenges of working in Golden Gate Park.

And the adventure didn’t end there! Our tour ended right as the weekly themed Nightlife event opened to guests and we could enjoy the museum exhibits and social time.

A heartfelt thanks to the Facility Department hosts for their time and insights.

Please be sure to mark your calendars for our upcoming events.

🎊 Let’s continue exploring, learning, and making memories together! #IFMASF
